- Remember that this is how God is leading you specifically. He is the source of all truth. He is writing the story of our world and our lives individually (Creation, Fall, Redemption, Restoration). He is commanding us to not just listen to any and all ideas (or spirits) but to test them against God’s Big Story (Jesus Christ came in the flesh and is from God, the Gospel). What things are you listening to that are counter to Jesus? Do you need to spend more time listening to Jesus? How exactly? Seek God for these answers from this passage!

Meditate on Psalm 119:149: “Hear my voice according to your steadfast love; O Lord, according to your justice give me life.”

Daily Offices

Feel free to customize this daily devotional time. Do not feel bad if you miss offices. Start where you are and just seek God. When we do this with others it is a simple way for us to walk together with God.

Study It. Read the passage and answer the questions. This passage will be used this coming Sunday at your Intentional Community.
Meditation and Prayer. Biblical meditation is the practice of filling (instead of emptying) our minds with what God has said. Repeat the passage over and over in your mind emphasizing different parts. We respond to what God is telling us with prayer. This practice helps you to start your day with God starting the conversation. He is the King of Kings, not our on-call butler. He cares deeply about what we need and want, but let’s hear from him first and then respond.
Worship and Silence. God uses artistic expression to help us connect our hearts and emotions to his truth. In our noisy world it is easy to not practice times of intentional silence. Think about the truth expressed in the worship song. Psalm 62:5: For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.
Consume It. We can’t just go deep in study of scripture, we should also consume as much as we can to help us see the big picture of God’s story.
Prayer of thanks. Think through your day and thank God for everything he brings to mind. Thankfulness can change our attitude and perspective upward. Psalm 100:4: Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!
Pray for one another. Ephesians 6:18: praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.
